Chapter 3 – How to use a genuine voice?

Web writing can be compared to direct talking. When someone talks to you, you stop thinking, you pay attention and you listen. If you write to a reader and it has a voice (sound) of a real person, then that is a genuine voice. When you use a genuine voice to write to a reader then it is like a conversation. Where there is a conversation then people will listen.

When you write in a genuine voice you should use simple words, strong verbs and nouns and short sentences when possible. Genuine voice can help you to get to the point of your blog post. Using “you” when you write to the reader is conversational, beside that, it is used when you write in first person.

Five key points to help you to write in genuine voice: 1) Be yourself and know yourself; 2) What is the middle spot in communication?; 3) Why you should write like you talk?; 4) Why it’s better to use active voice rather than passive?; 5) Why storytelling is important?

Chapter 2 – How to write to the reader?

To write to the readers you have to put yourself in their shoes, which means that your
readers are always in your main focus. To do that you need to know:

  1. Who are your readers?
  2. What do they need?
  3. Why do they need that?

Who are your readers?
This is connected with your blog niche. Your readers might be
different age, race, standard of living.

What do they need?
They might have a problem and are looking for solution. They might want to learn
something and are looking for lessons. They might looking for entertainment and fun
or where to spend a holiday.

Why do they need that?
Why do they need something that goes close with what they need. Why? To solve a
problem, to learn something, to be happier.
